Vineyard Production Management System.
Wine industry is increasingly tied to the rigid rules that govern the market. Wine growers and producers have experienced major growth over the last several years due to growing demand and profitable opportunities provided by the growing popularity of wine in general and Argentine wines in particular.
This situation has made it necessary for wine growers/producers to better manage their vineyards. Through strategic planning and evaluation they must be able to renovate and create new areas for cultivation with the aim of maximizing production without, however, sacrificing quality.
This new way of doing business requires the manipulation of various types of data and information as well as tools capable of integrating this data to provide a support in the planning and decision-making process
Geographic Information Systems, for their ability to integrate various types of data in solutions for analysis, planning, management, etc. and for their ability to offer informative output in the form of maps georeferenced and related reports, provide an obvious answer to the issues faces by today’s wine growers/producers.
Methodology GIS, GPS, and remote sensing blended for great wine making and management in the analysis in wine grape growing.
The agricultural application of GIS is enhanced by the use of GPS for reference points for satellite imagery. This blended information serves as the basemap data that allow GIS and Spatial Analyst Extension to do analysis of soil and varied inputs of chemical agents, tracking of chemicals for state required reporting, pest management, and other spatial analysis jobs. This allows the wine growers/producers to see various layers of information concurrently, therefore allowing him to make better decisions and better wine.
